Recently, Xinhui Port passed final inspection by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People’s Republic of China (AQSIQ) and was officially approved as one of the first Designated Ports for Importing Grains. This leads to further expansion in the functions of Xinhui Port. It signifies that Xinhui Port has been qualified for importing grains and that grains can be imported via Xinhui Port to Southeast Asia and other regions, reducing the cost of hoisting and storage, and loss during transit shipment. It is reported that altogether 101 ports and 172 port control points across China applied for being approved as a designated port/port control point for importing grains. After review of application materials and site acceptance test, 58 ports (including 8 in Guangdong province) and 96 port control points became the first to pass final inspection by the AQSIQ.
In August 2013, in order to effectively prevent and reduce the risk of exotic pests associated with importing grains, the AQSIQ required that the system of designating ports for importing grains be implemented across China. Ports importing grains must first file an application and may proceed to business only after such application has been approved. In accordance with relevant requirements of the AQSIQ regarding examination and acceptance of designated ports for importing grains, our company has, since project approval, set up a special leading group to handle application and related matters. We improved port facilities, the joint inspection system, port network system and supporting facilities, such as the rapid screening room, temporary observation room, emergency supplies room and equipment room. With this, we aim to improve our quarantine and testing capabilities and create a robust epidemic prevention and control system for the port. After three separate site inspections by the GDSIQ Xinhui Office, Guangdong Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau(GDSIQ) and AQSIQ, Xinhui Port was recently approved as one of the first designated ports for importing dried cassava (type A and type B) pursuant to Announcement of the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China on Measures for Regulating Designated Ports for Importing Grains.
The approval of Xinhui Port as a designated port for importing grains can effectively help enhance safety and supporting services of the port. Meanwhile, by building the brand of “Designated Port for Importing Grains”, we can extend the visibility and influence of both Xinhui Port and Mingcrown Group, and attract more grains to Xinhui Port. By doing so, we can build Xinhui into an important distribute center for imported grains in Jiangmen and the whole province.
