Since then, Mo Guanliang led Mingguan Group to take the path of diversified development and form a group company involving more than a dozen companies in four major sectors, including hotels, real estate, and port logistics.
In 1985, the spring breeze of reforms came to Dongguan. Mo Guanliang's father Mo Zhiming resigned from the post of principal and set up a construction company in the sea. When the time came in 2004, Mo Guanliang took over the group in an all-round way and innovated the management and business model of the group, making Mingguan Group's industries involve construction, hotel, steel manufacturing, real estate, port logistics and other fields, with an annual output value of several One billion yuan.
Have a dream of starting a business since childhood
After his father Mo Zhiming founded a construction company, Mo Guanliang had a hard time.
Mo Guanliang recalled that during the winter and summer vacations, he spent most of his time in high school on the construction site, eating and living with the workers, working together, and doing the hard work of moving and lifting. It was at this time that Mo Guanliang had the dream of studying architecture. “When you see cement, sand, stone and steel bars mix together, you can build a tall building. I think it’s amazing. I really admire engineers, architects and other professionals.”
In the 1988 college entrance examination, Mo Guanliang was admitted to the Department of Architecture of Guangdong Construction Vocational and Technical College. After graduating from university in 1992, Mo Guanliang entered the Huayu Construction Engineering Co., Ltd. founded by his father. He started as a construction worker and went to the construction site every day.
After nearly 10 years of development, Huayu Construction Company has grown. Because we often had to receive guests and foreign businessmen, there were not many comfortable hotels in Dongguan at that time, and some good technicians were not willing to come to Dongguan. After discussing with his father, Mo Guanliang decided to build a hotel to diversify the group industry and share the operating risks.
Mo Guanliang said that at the beginning he just wanted to build an ordinary small hotel with a comfortable environment, but for the first time, he had no experience at all, so he could only ask foreign businessmen he knew, and visit and learn from hotels in Hong Kong and even foreign countries. After that, he decided to expand the scale of the hotel and upgrade the hotel grade. This is how the first four-star hotel in a township in China. At the end of the year, Liaobu Golden Hyatt Hotel officially opened.
Establish a large group company
In the following five or six years, Mingguan Group went further and further, the industry became more and more diversified, and several members were added: Fenggang Golden Hyatt Hotel, Guangdong Huaguan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Shilong Golden Hyatt Hotel, Mingguan Port Logistics Company ……At present, Mingguan Group has more than ten enterprise groups under the four major sectors of Golden Hyatt Hotel, Real Estate and Construction, Port Logistics, and Steel Manufacturing.
In 2004, Mo Guanliang took over the entire Mingguan Group. However, he found that he was about to "charge". Mo Guanliang said: "In those few years, the group was also diversified and developed the fastest. I found that my management level could not keep up with the development of the group."
In 2006 and 2007, he entered the CEO class of Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business on a part-time basis to study for a master's degree in business administration. After returning, he did three things: one was to set up the group’s ERP information management system; the other was to rebuild the group’s personnel structure, from the president to the company’s grassroots team leader, redefining the powers; the third was to define the group’s head office and its subordinates The company’s relationship, withdrawing the subsidiary’s personnel rights, purchasing rights, and financial rights, allows the company to focus on production and sales.
After this reform, the company's business management has become more efficient, refined, standardized and scientific. Currently, he is working hard to promote the listing of Huaguan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. under the group.
Mo Guanliang said that his idol is Fok Yingdong, who has compassion for the nation and the disadvantaged groups in society, and is a true patriot and charity entrepreneur. Just in the past April, he donated 1.5 million yuan to Qishi as an education poverty alleviation fund. "From the time when my father founded the group company, we have donated more than 26 million yuan for charity. The group prepares a sum of money every year. Charity, and the annual donation will exceed this budget."

Mo Guanliang: When the company has grown to a certain scale, its business has increased rapidly, but talent training and management have not kept up. This has caused the company to have big loopholes in process management and cost control. "The faster the company develops, the greater the risk. Big" situation. In response to this situation, the company began to gradually pay attention to the introduction and training of talents, introducing advanced management systems, and continuously optimizing the management process of the company, so that the company gradually embarked on the track of modern corporate management.
Nanfang Daily: Many companies are advocating transformation, what do you think?
Mo Guanliang: Many traditional industries can use transformation and upgrading to become bigger and stronger. The time cost and construction cost are too high and unnecessary. For enterprises, I think what needs to be done at present is the innovation and upgrading of corporate operating models and management ideas, such as using diversified channels and e-commerce to build new operating models and service models.

Mo Guanliang:At present, Dongguan businessmen urgently need to learn to innovate and learn new technologies. They must not lie on their laurels. They must keep pace with the times, keep innovating, and constantly apply new technologies to respond to social development. At the same time, we must learn about the global market to adapt to the pattern of economic globalization.
