As confirmed by relevant departments, recently Guangdong province has officially included the 30,000-Ton Waterway Dredging Project at Yamen Sea Channel of Tanjiang River into the 12th Five-Year Construction Project Plan. Total investment of the project is expected to reach 3.3 billion RMB. Preparations for the project has already began. Located in the Huangmao Sea waters west of the Pearl River Delta, Yamen Sea Channel is the main access to the sea for Hutiaomen waterway of Xijiang River and Yamen waterway of Tanjiang River, both are part of the Pearl River system. It is also the only 10,000-ton waterway in the Pear River system other than Humen.
The implementation of the 30,000-Ton Waterway Dredging Project at Yamen Sea Channel of Tanjiang River and completion of the 30,000-ton wharf (Phase II of Xinhui Port) will enable large international ocean vessels to directly anchor off Xinhui Port and achieve river-ocean combined transport. This can not only provide convenient logistics conditions for developing export economy in Jiangmen and undertaking foreign trade industries, but also significantly reduce logistics costs for local export enterprises. By then, Xinhui Port will rise to be a large veritable enterport on the west coast of the Pearl River and even, the central terminal station in the Xijiang River basin. Further, the economic hinterland will be extended to cover Foshan (Guangdong), Shunde (Guangdong), Wuzhou (Guangxi) and other areas.
