Located about 30 kms on the upper reaches of Yamen Sea Channel, Xinhui Port International Freight Terminal is a major river-ocean combined transport center in the west of the PRD region and an ideal port for ocean and short-range ocean transportation. Surrounding cities include Jiangmen, Kaiping, Taishan, Heshan, Foshan, Zhongshan, Zhuhai and Yangjiang. With a crisscross of roads and waterways, Xinhui is connected to the Xijiang River basin and the Pan-PRD region by water and accessible via multiple expressways, including Guangzhou-Zhanjiang Expressway, Guangdong Western Coastal Expressway, Zhongshan-Kaiping Expressway and Jiangmen Avenue. Together, they form a convenient transportation network.
Xinhui Port is composed of multiple phases. The first and second phases have been completed and the third phase is to be developed.
The first phase was completed and opened for operation on January 5, 2002. It covers a land area of 128,000 m2 and has two warehouses (4,608 m2), a container yard (more than 50,000 m2) and a general cargo yard (20,000 m2). The first-phase wharf includes two 5,000-ton berths and one 500-ton berth, with a shoreline of 323 meters, and a water depth of 8.84 meters at the front. The designed annual handling capacity is 860,000 tons of cargoes and 100,000 TEUs.
The second phase which has a gross investment of 376.1 million RMB, intends to build two 10,000-ton berths (can be extended to 30,000-ton berth) on the lower reaches of the two 5,000-ton berths from phase one. With a shoreline of 355 meters and water depth of 10.1 meters at the front, the second phase boasts a designed handling capacity of 910,000 tons a year, including 90,000 TEUs and 100,000 tons of general cargoes. It occupies a land area of 161,572 m2 and includes 59,714 m2 of storage yard and 11,760 m2 (floor area) of warehouse. The second phase has passed final acceptance inspection on March 20, 2019 and opened on Nov. 26, 2019 after passing relevant inspections.
